Hey guys ^^ Welcome to the new group, Shonen and Shojo Art! Here, you may contribute any art that pertains to the Shonen or Shojo style of anime/manga art. What is Shonen and Shojo? Shonen and Shojo are two types of anime styles. They have different features, and the basics are listed here: Shojo Examples? [link] Shonen Examples? [link] But again, everyone's opinion on the style is different. That is just the basic classifications of Shojo/Shonen. You be the judge! Still unsure of where your art goes? Here's a couple more examples: Hetalia Style: [link] (Shoujo) Why: Their features and anatomical features were simplified, and it also has a 'cute' overview. Vocaloid official art: [link] (Shonen) Why: Her anatomical features are more precise and less simplified, and her eyes are not overly large and do not have a whole lot of shine to them. the shading is also more realistic. The whole thing does not have the typical shoujo 'shine'. Vampire Knight: [link] (Shoujo) Why: Their eyes are quite large, and haev a whole lot of shine to them. Also if you notice, the girl's face is more rounded and has less detail. The men's faces are more point and bishounen-like. Note it is NOT male=shounen and girl=shoujo! The boys in this piece are very much Shoujo because they have sharp features and lighter eyes. STILLLLLLL UNSURE? Send a note to the group and I'll tell you what my opinion on the style is How to join? Just click the join group button at the top! I will accept everyone. You can add a message if you want, it's optional. And yes, I do read the messages Submissions There is currently a 3 deviations per day submission limit. HOW TO SUBMIT (IMPORTANT): 1. Go to the tab that says 'gallery' 2. Submit your art wherever you think it's appropriate. If you submitted it into the wrong category, an admin will correct you and either tell you to submit it to another folder or move it to the correct folder. 3. If you have a problem with the folder your art was submitted into, feel free to send a NOTE to the group with a link to the deviation you have a problem with. Folders; Co-founders/contributors For now, you may not apply for one of these positions. Instead, I will observe your activeness in the group and on deviantArt, and choose who will get these positions from there. Have a question? Please don't post on the group comments with your question! Instead, send us a note and I will look at it ASAP. Events Deviation of the week; What it is; Once a week I will go through the gallery and pick out ONE deviation I find that stands out most. Whether it be excellent anatomy, beautiful coloring, or a stunning concept. SOMETHING has to pop out to me. How do I do it; Just submit your deviations to the gallery. I will check the ones submitted in the week I am picking for, and choose one. This deviation will not only get a spot in our 'featured' gallery (which also has a chance of it appearing on the front page of our club because it is set to random), but will also get featured in the journal. Didn't make it the week you submitted your piece? Don't feel bad! It's not because your art is good enough, sometimes I might just have to flip a coin to see who gets featured. Instead, why not draw something else and submit it to the gallery? It might get picked for that coming week! This is kind of a passive event, because you don't have to suggest or vote- I simply go and choose from the deviations. Since the group is new and there isn't much competition, I suggest you get in your best deviations while you can! ;D The competition for the weeks Featured deviation is over on 12PM Saturday PST of that week. Thank you, and happy drawing! |
